Three
Types of Time Zones
The
Earth is very old. In fact, the Earth is so old that it has a verity of time
zones and these time zones have other time zones. We will be talking about the three
main types of Time Zones. These Time Zones hold our Earth’s past life, like
fossils, rocks, and how the Earth’s climate changed from having no oxygen and no Ozone Layer, to supporting life not
only in the water, but on land as well.
The First Time Zone that
will be talked about is the Era.
The Era, which are marked by worldwide changes in the types of fossils present.
At the end of the Mesozoic Era, many kinds of invertebrates, birds, mammals,
and reptiles became extinct.
The Next Time Zone After
the Era are the Periods.
Periods are units of geologic time characterized by the types of life existing
worldwide at the time.
Periods can be divided into
smaller units of time.
The next Time Zone after
the Periods are the epochs.
Epochs also are characterized by differences in life-forms, but some of these
differences can vary from continent to continent. Epochs of periods in the
Cenozoic Era have been given specific names. Epochs of other periods usually
are referred to simply as early, middle, or late.
Now these Time Zones may have
been unimportant to those who don’t even care about what the Earth has to
offer, but if that is how everybody feels about our Earth and our Earth’s history,
but when we do care about our Earth and our Earth’s history, there is no limit
to what we could learn about our Earth and its wonders.
