The Body System
I’ve always thought the body was a
really interesting that we all have. The Body System consists of ten
systems, three of them are; the Nervous System, Urinary, and the Immune System.
One of the systems in the body is
the Nervous System. Two parts of the Nervous System are the brain and
nerves. The brain has 100 billion neurons which form the main control center of
the body. The brain is in charge of higher mental functions such as
consciousness, memory, planning, and voluntary actions. It also controls lower
body functions like the maintenance of respiration, heart rate, blood pressure,
and digestion. The nerves take care of carrying signals between the brain and
the spinal cord and the rest of the body. Some nerves in the body are
specialized for only carrying signals in one direction. When nerves are wrapped
with connective tissue it helps to protect the axons and increase the speed of
their communication in the body.
Next, is the Urinary System. One
of the parts of the Urinary System is the urinary bladder. The urinary bladder
is used for the storage of urine. Another part of the system fills the bladder
and stretches its elastic walls. The walls can stretch out anywhere from 600 to
800 milliliters of urine. Another very important part of the urinary system are
the kidneys. The kidneys take care of filtering metabolic wastes, and chemicals
from the blood to form urine.
Last, is the Immune System.
Two parts of the Immune system are the spleen and the bone marrow. The spleen
filters blood and helps fight certain kinds of bacteria that cause pneumonia
and meningitis. Also platelets and white blood cells are stored in the spleen.
The bone marrow produces red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells, it
works with the spleen.
I still think the body is a really
interesting thing to study and I would like to learn more about it. The body
consists of ten systems, three of them are; the Nervous System, Urine, and Immune
System.
