Climates

There many types of climates around the world, but three of the most important climates are tropical, dry, and mild climates, though there are 12 different types of climates found on Earth. Let’s start with a tropical climate.
What kind of species and habitats can you find in a tropical climate? Well, probably a poison tree, macaw, and maybe if you’re lucky a giant phasmid. They also often have a dense forest. There are different types of layers called tropical rainforest layers. The average temperatures in a tropical climate are about 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Seasons never change in tropical areas. Large areas of Tropical Wet, a type of climate, are found in Brazil, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, and the Philippines. It sometimes rains every day.  Most areas of Tropical Wet receive over 100 inches of rain per year, although some receive nearly 300 inches per year. There are six layers of a rainforest. First, there is the emergent layer, canopy layer, understory layer, shrub layer, forest floor, and the subterranean.
The next type of climate is a dry climate. Where is it usually located? Dry climates are usually found near the equator, usually on the outer edges of Tropical Wet climate areas.  The largest areas of Tropical Wet/Dry are found in Africa, Brazil, and India. There are only two seasons for this dry climate, which are summer and winter. Dry seasons are longer then tropical seasons. Not only does this effect plant life, but animals too, which are suffering from lack of water and lack of food. Ocean currents and wind changes cause this dry climate. The animals you can find there are a wildebeest and a hyena.  The most common vegetation are types grasses and shrubs with a few scattered trees.  These types of plants have adapted to long periods of dry weather. The change in precipitation is what gives this climate type is name. During the dry season, temperatures average about 68 degrees.
Then there is also a mild climate. It has warm, dry summers and a short rainy winter. Gardens flourish and lemons, oranges, olives, and avocados can be grown. San Francisco is known for its cloudy foggy weather. It is thought to be the best climate. Areas around the Mediterranean ocean such as Greece, southern France, Spain and the middle east enjoy this mild climate. Usually located midway between the equator and the poles, and often found near a warm ocean or sea. This weather is due to the ocean currents and water temperature. Clearly these types of climates help certain species or habitat survive.

While there are many other types of climates, these are three of the most popular and prominent ones.
